What kind of knowledge and what kind of craftsmanship are required to this day, so that after many, often inconspicuous work steps, for example, a desirable jewel is made out of a simple piece of sheet metal?The permanent exhibition "Jewelry Production" at the German Museum of Technology in Berlin gives visitors an insight into the rather unadorned work side behind the decorative side of a product. But not only that. As part of the "manufakturelle Schmuckgestaltung" project, young jewelry makers can learn how to work with the historical machines used in manufakturelle Schmuckherstellung and use them to develop their own designs.
