IMPORTANT NOTE !!!
DICK-graver, made of tool steel (WS), have the right hardness and toughness for the best cutting edge. You keep your good cut if they are careful with sintered Al-Oxide wheel (hardness H-M, grain 50 or 80, depending on the desired fineness of grind) by grinding with water.

Caution !!!
Too much pressure leads to decrease of hardness !

Our gravers are made of tool steel (tungsten, chromium and vanadium are added) hardened and tempered ready to use.

<>Considering their wide range and application, however special requirements may call of different toughness.

In such case we recomment that the user tempers the gravers himself observing the following instructions:

Material to be engraved:

• tool steel of 390-980 N/mm² (40-100 kp/mm²) strength
  • tempering colour: do not temper to colour, supplied with hardness
  • blade edge harndess: 65 - 67 HRc
• whitegold, platinum etc.
  • tempering colour: light yellow (approx. 220°C)
  • blade edge harndess: 60 - 62 HRc
• gold, silver, brass, bronze, red bronze etc.
  • tempering colour: purple-violet (approx. 270 - 290°C)
  • blade edge harndess: 56 - 58 HRc (self-annealing)
• soft metals like tin, zinc, lead and light metals
  • tempering colour: dark-blue-grayish-blue (approx. 300 - 320°C)
  • blade edge harndess: 52 - 54 HRc (self-annealing)
