SOLID SAL AMMONIAC
Order-No. 4784S
Piece
- for soldering irons
INFO
What is the explanation for the cleaning effect of solid sal ammoniac on the copper tip?
Ammonium chloride (NH,CL) is a compound of Ammonium (NH) and Hydrochlorid Acid (HCL). When the hot copper tip is rubbed on the solid sal ammoniac, the heat decomposes it into its original elements, i.e. Ammonium and Hydrochloric acid. The free acid now dissolves the cupric oxides on the tip and forms chlorides, thus cleaning the tip of all oxides.
